The next day it was supposed to snow in the morning, so we decided to wait and ski later. We got up and rode the bus down into town and ate at a restaurant called McGill’s. It is located in the old town general store.
The breakfast was excellent. We had eggs, bacon, sausage, french toast, hash browns and biscuits and gravy.
After breakfast we went for a walk around town. It is unusual for us to be in town during the day when it is light. This place has the most beautiful old buildings. A lot of the houses are now shops and restaurants but the old wood and tin and logs are really amazing.
It didn’t start snowing until later in the afternoon and the snow was wet, so we decided not to ski that afternoon. We ate a late lunch at the Avalanche. I had nachos and Chip had the pot pie. Both were great. Since we ate late we decided to go into town and see a movie. This is fun because it is a tiny movie theater with two rooms. But they have popcorn and sodas and candy.
We got out of the movies at like 9:30 and were starving. So we walked in the snow and dark and very cold to the main road (Elk Avenue) and down a couple of blocks to the first restaurant we saw that was still open. It was a pizza place called The Secret Stash. We were just happy for food but they have great pizza. We made our own – with pepperoni and ham and green peppers and onions and it was really good. Their dough is great.
We caught the town bus back up the hill at 10:40 – the last one runs at 11:45.
